How to forward your restaurant's calls

Call forwarding sends calls from your restaurant's number to another number. You keep your number, and guests dial the same number they always have. This guide covers the codes for Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL mobiles and how to turn forwarding off again.

First, pick when calls should forward

You don't have to forward every call. Most restaurants choose one of these:

• When busy or unanswered (recommended). Your staff still pick up first. Only calls that would have been missed get forwarded, like during the dinner rush or after closing.
• All calls. Every call goes straight to the forwarded number. Good if nobody is at the phone for long stretches.
• When not reachable. Only forwards when your phone is off or has no signal.

Jio

Dial the code followed by the 10-digit number you are forwarding to, then press call.

Airtel, Vi and BSNL

These use the standard GSM codes. Dial the code, the 10-digit number, then #, and press call.

For busy and unanswered calls, set both codes, one after the other.

No codes? Use your phone's settings

• Android: open the Phone app, tap the three dots, then Settings → Calls or Supplementary services → Call forwarding.
• iPhone: Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding. iPhone only offers "always" here, so use the codes above for busy or unanswered.

Menu names differ a little between phone brands.

Landlines

Landline forwarding depends on your provider and plan. Some need it switched on by calling their customer care. If your restaurant uses a landline, we check this with you during setup.

Check that it works

1. Set forwarding using the codes above. You should see a confirmation on screen.
2. Call your restaurant's number from a different phone.
3. For "busy" or "not answered", let it ring out or decline it and make sure it reaches the forwarded number.

Operators may charge forwarded calls like outgoing calls, depending on your plan. Check with your operator if you're unsure.
