What the apps deduct, and what they don’t

  • Commission: 18% to 28% of the order in published 2026 breakdowns. Your rate is in your contract.
  • Payment collection fee: about 2% of the order.
  • 18% GST on the commission and fees. Restaurants on 5% GST without input tax credit can’t claim it back.
  • Your share of discounts and any ads you buy on the app.
  • Not deducted from you: the 5% GST on the food (the app pays it) and the customer’s own platform fee.
  • TDS of 0.1% is held back but counts towards your income tax.

How the calculator works

  • Value after your discount = order value − discount
  • Commission = value after discount × commission %; payment fee = value after discount × fee %
  • GST on fees = (commission + payment fee) × 18%
  • Ads per order = monthly ads ÷ (orders a day × 30)
  • You keep = value after discount − commission − payment fee − GST on fees − packaging − ads per order
  • Going to the app each month = (commission + payment fee + GST on fees + ads per order) × orders a day × 30
  • App price that matches dine-in = discount + (order value + packaging + ads per order) ÷ (1 − (commission % + fee %) × 1.18)

Some contracts charge commission on the value before your discount, which costs a little more than shown here. The calculator doesn’t include delivery: on most app orders the app’s rider delivers.

Questions

Quick answers

How much commission do Zomato and Swiggy charge restaurants in 2026?

Published 2026 breakdowns put it at 18% to 28% of the order value, depending on your contract, your city and whether the app delivers. On top of that come 18% GST on the commission and fees, and a payment collection fee of about 2%. The exact rates are in your own agreement and weekly payout statement, so use those numbers in the calculator.

Is GST charged on Zomato and Swiggy commission?

Yes. The app adds 18% GST to its commission and other fees. Most standalone restaurants charge 5% GST without input tax credit, so they can’t claim this GST back, and it is a real cost. That is why a 22% commission plus a 2% fee takes about 28% of the order.

Who pays the 5% GST on food ordered through Zomato and Swiggy?

Since 1 January 2022, the app collects and pays the 5% GST on restaurant food it delivers (section 9(5) of the CGST Act, notification 17/2021). So the GST the customer pays doesn’t come to you, and your payout and this calculator start from the food value before GST.

What is the TDS on Zomato and Swiggy payouts?

The app deducts TDS of 0.1% of the order value under the e-commerce TDS rule (section 194-O). It was 1% until 30 September 2024, so older articles still say 1%. TDS is not a cost: it shows in your Form 26AS and counts towards your income tax.

How should I price dishes on Zomato and Swiggy?

Many restaurants list dishes higher on the apps than on their dine-in menu to cover commission. The calculator shows the app price at which an order leaves you the same as a dine-in sale of the same food. Read your contract first: some agreements limit how far app prices can differ from your own menu.

Are direct orders cheaper than Zomato and Swiggy?

Direct orders by phone, WhatsApp or at your counter have no commission, but you lose the app’s customers and must arrange delivery yourself. With Venditas POS a direct order costs ₹3 after 30 days free, and UPI payments for typical restaurant bills carry no merchant fee. Most restaurants use both: the apps for new customers, direct orders for regulars.

Does Venditas connect to Zomato and Swiggy?

Not yet. Today you enter app orders in Venditas POS and mark them as Swiggy or Zomato, so your reports show sales by channel next to dine-in, takeaway and phone orders.

Every feature. ₹3 per order.
