The Venditas captain app lets waiters take orders on their own phone. They see every table, add dishes with portions, add-ons and notes, and send the KOT straight to the kitchen. Each captain logs in with a PIN, so every order shows who took it. It is included in the ₹3 per order price.
What a captain sees
- The floor. Every table grouped by area, coloured by state: free, running, or bill printed. A tile shows the running total and how long the table has been seated.
- The menu. Search by name or short code, filter by category, veg and non-veg marked. Dishes switched off as out of stock cannot be ordered.
- Portions and add-ons. Half or full, extra raita, and a note for the kitchen.
- Ready alerts. “T6: KOT 8 is ready” pops up when the kitchen marks it done.
- QR orders. If guests order from the table QR, the table shows “QR order waiting” and the captain accepts it. See QR table ordering.
How setup works
- In Setup → Staff, add each captain with a name and a 4 to 6 digit PIN.
- In Setup → Devices, make a pairing code and enter it once on each phone.
- On a paired phone, staff tap their name and type their PIN to start.
If a phone is lost, remove it from Devices and it stops working at once. When someone leaves, switch off their login. Nobody shares the owner’s password.
Why waiters on phones beats paper KOTs
Paper slips get lost, the counter has to retype them, and nobody knows who wrote “2 butter naan” when the bill is wrong. With the captain app the order goes from the table straight to the kitchen screen and KOT printer, and the same items land on the bill. There is nothing to retype.
You stay in control
Captains cannot give discounts. You choose whether they can print bills, take payment or cancel items after the KOT. Every cancellation is in the watch list with the captain’s name and reason.
Tables can be moved, merged or split from the phone when a group grows or wants separate bills.

Quick answers
Can waiters take orders on their own phones?
Yes. Any Android phone or iPhone with a browser works. Pair the phone once with a code from Setup, then each captain logs in with their name and PIN.
Do I need to buy a captain app or tablets?
No. The captain app is part of Venditas and runs in the phone’s browser. There is nothing extra to buy and no app store download.
Can two captains use the same phone?
Yes. Each captain taps their name and enters their own PIN. Every order and KOT then shows who took it.
What can a captain not do?
You decide. Captains cannot give discounts. You choose in Setup → Permissions whether captains can print bills, take payment or cancel sent items.
Does the captain app work in Hindi?
Yes. Each staff member picks English, Hindi or Marathi for their own screens. See billing in Hindi and Marathi.
What if the phone loses signal at a table?
The order is kept on the phone and the captain taps Retry send when the signal is back. If it already reached the kitchen, nothing is sent twice. Venditas does need internet to send orders.
